It is possible that all you will have to do is Part A above. You are not deleting anything except the alias, it's just an alias – it's not a real folder.ĥ- Create an alias of your ~/Documents folder.Ħ- Move that alias into ~/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles/LOTRO/drive_c/users/crossover. This might be necessary since you moved your bottle from one volume to another rather than creating a new bottle and installing LOTRO into it on your existing volume.ġ- Using the Finder, navigate your way to ~/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles/LOTRO/drive_c/users/crossover.Ģ- Inside that crossover folder, look for an alias called:ģ- Delete the My Documents alias. So let's try two things:Ī- Fixing up Crossover so that it knows where to find your ~/Documents folder. ![]() But there are a bunch of things that might have gone wrong as you attempted that procedure. Working fine now - thanks for all the help! Normally I ask for the graphics card (or a statement that the graphics are an Intel integrated type) and the amount of VRAM. Get this from About This Mac->System Report and provide the "System Identifier".Ģ- The exact version of MacOS you are using.ģ- The exact version of Crossover you are using.ĥ- In your case I will know the details of your graphics subsystem from (1) but in most cases it is not possible to know with certainty because many Macs shipped with different graphics options. After you do so, please provide some detailed information about your system so that we can avoid any further surprises like this:ġ- The exact model of your Mac. If you would like further assistance from me, please begin by changing to a release version of MacOS. On a beta, ¯\_(?)_/¯ anything can happen and often does. Or it would be if you were running a release version of MacOS. If you are getting sound out of your Mac but your System Preferences->Sound->Output shows no output device, that is super weird. If you just have to test out all those tasty new features or whatever, create an APFS volume just for that OS installation so you can boot back to a release version when you want to get real work done or play a game without inviting problems from a buggy beta. Unless you are a developer who needs to prep software in advance of an OS release, or are getting paid to beta test, you shouldn't use a beta OS for anything important be that business or a game you really, really, really want to play. OK, well, I'm afraid that using a beta OS is an issue. You will not have to switch it each time you start up the game. You only have to do this once, after you get a successful "first run" of LOTRO and switch it into Full Screen Windowed mode you can put your monitor back to its normal resolution. Sometimes – it's rare, but sometimes – the "smallest available" via System Preferences isn't small enough and EasyRes is the easiest way to get your monitor into 800圆00 resolution which pretty much always does the trick. If you follow the procedure here using System Preferences to change your resolution to the smallest available and you run into a problem with getting the game to a successful "first run" then try EasyRes and use 800圆00 before starting up LOTRO. (If you are facile with the Terminal you can set 800圆00 resolution that way, but let's avoid the Terminal if we can.) Here's a link to EasyRes: There are some advantages to EasyRes compared to using System Preferences because it will allow you to choose 800圆00 even if System Preferences doesn't offer that to you as an option. ![]() There is a free application in the Mac App Store (so you know it's safe) called EasyRes. Some people find it easier to use a third-party application to change their resolution. If there's anything smaller than 800圆00, use 800圆00 instead of something smaller. The most recent versions of MacOS make this more confusing than it should be! Here's exactly what to do:Ģ- While holding down the OPTION key on your keyboard, click on the SCALED radio button.ģ- You will now see a range of actual resolutions from which you can make a selection rather than "bigger" or "smaller" as you would see if you had clicked on the SCALED radio button without holding down the OPTION key on your keyboard.Ĥ- Scroll down the list of available resolutions and choose the smallest one there. When you say make the resolution the "smallest" possible, are we talking about the numbers or the resulting display? Do I want lower or higher resolution? I take it as lower, but double checking. ![]()
